The palazzo del Capitano has reappeared after an extensive and detailed restoration, as a charming hotel with 11 gracious rooms offering modern comforts whilst retaining the fascination of the ancient architecture and enhanced by furnishings following the true Tuscan tradition.The building which dates back to 1400 is one of the oldest in the historic centre of San Quirico d?Orcia, a small medieval town in the heart of Val d?Orcia in South Tuscany. The hotel annexe ?Casa Camaldoli is situated at about 100 meters from our hotel along the village main street near the wonderful ?Collegiata? in an old building recently restored. The 5 bedrooms are large and nicely furnished in an old-fashion way with floors tiled with terracotta , ceilings with wooden beams and romantic pastel decorated walls.In the main building the former stables, with the original vaulted ceilings have been converted into a lounge with a bar and a large fireplace. In our garden The delicate perfume of lavender bushes and aromatic herbs accompanies the wanderer during walks underneath the vine covered pergola, in the olive groves, the orchard and through the Mediterranean vegetation.In this quiet corner one can have relaxing moments reading or sunbathing on the comfortable chaise-longue . The characteristic wine cellar guards ?treasures? of the most famous Tuscan wines, from Brunello di Montalcino to Nobile di Montepulciano, from Chianti Classico to the more local Orcia d.o.c.A few steps away from the hotel there is our restaurant ?Al Vecchio Forno? where one can try the typical Tuscan dishes, including homemade pasta and other local delights. Our guests are offered an abundant and varied buffet breakfast served in the dining room located in the former stables or, in the summer time, in our garden. All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning/heating, direct dial telephone, TV Sat, safe and private bathroom with shower; antique Tuscan furniture and romantic atmosphere.
